Golcar J I & N School is a popular, two form entry school within the Colne Valley with 432 children currently on roll. We provide a positive, nurturing and inspiring learning environment where everyone is encouraged and supported to achieve their goals. Our children are keen to learn, are well behaved and want to achieve their best.
We take safeguarding our children very seriously and follow a robust safer recruitment policy framework to ensure all our adults are the very best professionals. We complete police checks, references (including checking referees are authentic) and background checks (including online searches) to help us ensure that adults are safe and trusted. We will explore any gaps in employment to fully understand each candidate's professional history.
We are looking for an experienced teacher to lead our Early Years Foundation Stage unit. We want someone to lead our next phase of teaching and learning in the Early Years. This position comes with a Teaching and Learning Responsibility payment which can be negotiated within TLR2 depending on expertise and ability to develop the role.
The successful candidate will be able to:

* Lead the whole team to provide learning areas and specific activities which help children to explore and learn in line with the Early Excellence provision recommendations.
* Put in place intervention strategies to enable children to catch up and keep up where they may have barriers to learning.
* Be a ‘Deputy SENDCO’ for our youngest learners ensuring early identification and planning for children from 3-6 years old. This will involve support planning, progress checks, training support staff, selecting the most appropriate interventions and support and following the recommendations of the recently updated EEF ‘Deployment of teaching assistants’ guidance. The SENDCO qualification is desirable and if not attained, a willingness to undertake this.
* Lead the provision of the EYFS phonics scheme using our ELS framework.
* Develop Early Years provision in collaboration with parents and carers, involving them with visits to the school and specific activities at home to enhance learning.
* Undertake the development of the Early Years provision following the school development plan and ratifying this with an application to the ‘Early Years Centre of Excellence Award’.
* Further develop the EYFS curriculum ensuring children’s interests are considered alongside all the recommendations from the EYFS development matters and our school ‘Golcar Goals’.
* Continually assess the provision in both classrooms and outdoors and make further enhancements and improvements impacting on progress and achievement for the children.
* Make staff accountable for the progress and achievement of all children showing an impact on the most vulnerable groups.
* Have the confidence to lead the unit through external inspections and audits including OFSTED inspections.
We are also looking for:
* Commitment and enthusiasm to motivate children, practitioners and parents/carers to reach their full potential.
* Support for the vision, ethos and policies of the school and promote high levels of achievement.
* Someone who is passionate about children’s learning and welfare and with high expectations for all learners.
* A team player who can work alongside teaching staff to deliver positive outcomes for children.
We can offer:
* A hard working and supportive staff team who are committed to high quality teaching and learning.
* A supportive senior leadership team who are committed to everyone being a leader.
* A commitment to professional development.
* Enthusiastic pupils who are keen to learn.
* A calm and nurturing learning environment with a high level of support staff in place to coach and mentor children.
* High standards and high expectations in every aspect of school life.
* An opportunity to make a difference to children’s lives and their families.
* A supportive and dedicated Governing Body.
* Parents / carers who are keen to work in partnership to raise standards.
* Dedicated time for planning and preparation of lessons and leadership activities.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
