Safeguarding Adult & Prevent Lead

Registered Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist
We are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated practitioner who has a passion for safeguarding and promoting the rights of adults at risk. You will have experience in working with vulnerable adults, ideally in mental health setting. You will need to demonstrate a range of knowledge in relation to mental health and safeguarding legislation and national policy.
As a successful applicant you will join the senior management team and be the lead professional for safeguarding adults & Prevent at all levels throughout the Trust. Support will be provided to you through the other Safeguarding Leads, Head of Social Work and the Named Doctor for Adults.

Springfield University Hospital, Tooting
Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our £150m investment into two new world class mental health facilities. A 32-acre public park, shops and cafes are coming soon. Close to shops, cafes and Tooting Bec on the Northern Line plus Earlsfield and Tooting rail stations and bus routes.
· To assist in the development of safeguarding practice for all practitioners in the Trust and to advise on the management of safeguarding adults’ cases through supervision, Virtual Risk team, and attendance at key meetings for complex cases if required.
· To promote and conform to the Local SAB Safeguarding Adults Policy and Procedures, Corporate policies and national guidelines and ensure staff work to them.
· To undertake reviews of existing policies, procedures and guidelines with reference to the latest available evidence, legislation, national and local guidance and Local SAB to co-produce policies updating them as appropriate.
· To support Service Leads on the development and implementation of the Trust strategy, policy and service provision in respect of safeguarding adults and Prevent across the Trust.
· To contribute to the Trust Clinical governance agenda by assisting in the setting, implementation and evaluation of best practice and standards in safeguarding adults.
· To provide clinical leadership, specialist advice, guidance and support to all staff through service line escalation.
· To advise on issues of confidentiality and information sharing with regard to Safeguarding adults and Prevent.
· To ensure all parts of the Trust – inpatient and community – understand their roles and responsibilities with regard to safeguarding adults and Prevent.
· To oversee relevant audit programme and undertake audits of safeguarding adults practice, contributing as necessary to mental capacity agenda from safeguarding perspective.
· To work in close collaboration with Safeguarding Children Lead to ensure that promote safe, effective, person centred safeguarding practices across the Trust, including assurance that duties are met in accordance with Care Act 2014.
· To work closely with all five SABs to ensure the Trust develops and maintains proper standards of practice and procedural compliance and internal governance with regard to safeguarding adults at risk.
· To support Trust Executive Safeguarding Children and Adults Meeting to meet all statutory, mandatory and best practice standards.
· To support Trust Safeguarding Children and Adults Working Group to ensure key targets and improvements are completed.
· To support Quality Improvement initiatives and service developments across safeguarding services.
· To work strategically across the Trust and ensure safeguarding adults training and support is available to all Trust staff and meets national and local SAB requirements.
· To provide a Trust wide specialist advice, training and support service regarding safeguarding adults issues, including Prevent.
· Contribute to management of high-risk cases through Virtual Risk Team and other multi-agency panels.
· To contribute to development and maintenance of policy, guidance and audit in relation to safeguarding adults.
· To co-ordinate any PIPOT concerns raised in line with the Trust policy.
· To provide specialist mental health advice across partner agencies in relation to safeguarding adults.
· To provide strong leadership across the Trust in developing a culture which safeguards adults at risk from harm and as Trust Lead for Prevent.
· To work autonomously to meet the needs of the Trust with freedom to act and authority to carry out duties on behalf of the Trust in relation to safeguarding adults.
· To act as a supervisor and mentor to colleagues as required.
· To work in conjunction with the Trust Named Nurse and Doctors for safeguarding children and Doctor for safeguarding adults to ensure safeguarding issues across all age ranges are integrated.
· To present clear, competent reports on relevant matters in a variety of forums, both within and outside the Trust.
