We are looking for an Operations Leader to join our Workshop, Additive Operations Team based in Coventry.
The Team Leader’s role is to lead a facility team of between 4 and 25 individuals (including, but not limited to Apprentices, Technicians and Manufacturing Engineers). They ensure that their facility operates to the appropriate processes and behaviours to ensure the delivery of performance for Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery against agreed targets.
Duties and Responsibilities
As an Operations Leader you will (but not limited to):
1. Ensure compliance of all appropriate processes and act as a role model for desirable behaviour.
2. Be accountable for the facility team’s health and safety.
3. Manage the team’s absence and behaviours to ensure that they meet the expectations of the MTC, including performance management where appropriate.
4. Inspire a culture of continuous improvement and empower team members to resolve issues independently.
5. Be empowered to stop work and tasks, should the behaviour or process be inappropriate or unsafe.
6. Manage the Facility schedule and its performance against commitments for schedule and cost while ensuring quality and safety requirements are maintained.
7. Influence the strategic capability requirements for the future development of the facility’s machines and people.
Person Specification
We are looking for someone who is/has:
Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
1. Proven experience and technical expertise in Additive Manufacturing including LPBF (Laser powder bed fusion) experience.
2. An understanding of a range of polymer printing technologies (FDM, SLA etc).
3. Experience in managing teams to achieve business objectives.
4. An understanding and experience of implementing Lean manufacturing principles within an operational facility.
5. Ability to translate customer requirements into a deployed capability installation.
6. Determination and resilience in applying quality ethos and standards throughout the Workshop.
7. Ability to influence in a positive way following the MTC Values.
8. Ability to influence without authority.
9. A high level of technical and quality process knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems.
10. Good oral communication skills and confidence in dealing with a range of people, including clients, contractors, designers, directors and plant operators.
11. Precise and concise written communication skills.
12. The ability to lead a team through ambiguous or challenging situations.
13. The ability to work under pressure.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience
1. Project management skills such as stakeholder management, organisation, planning, requirement capture etc.
