The Head of the Languages Department is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of language programmes from Year 7 to A Level at St Edward's. The role involves managing the Faculty, ensuring curriculum alignment, fostering student engagement, and promoting excellence in language instruction.
Main Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the Languages Department, including professional development, and performance evaluations.
* Develop, implement, and review the curriculum to ensure it aligns with academic standards.
* Promote innovative teaching methodologies and integrate technology into language instruction.
* Monitor student progress and implement strategies for improvement.
* Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and success.
* Organise and oversee language-related extracurricular activities, workshops, and cultural events.
* Manage departmental budgets and allocate resources effectively.
* Maintain and update teaching materials, ensuring access to the latest resources and best practices.
* Work with colleagues to plan and deliver a range of trips to support the learning of languages is part of the role.
* An understanding of supporting the employment and work of overseas students and the teaching of EAL is also an important requirement.
About You : We're seeking a visionary and dedicated faculty head who has :
* A degree in Linguistics and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Proven track record of outstanding teaching and leadership experience, ideally within a Languages department.
* Experience with curriculum development and overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of language programmes from Year 7 to A Level at St Edward's
* Strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and students.
* A deep passion for languages and a commitment to fostering a love of learning among pupils.
