Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner
Location: Reading, Swindon, West Sussex
Salary: £32,000
Benefits: £3,000 car allowance
The Keys Group PBS team has the unique opportunity to support both Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities within a number of different settings, including Children's Residential and Schools, Adults Residential, Supported Living, and Day Service.
The purpose of our PBS Practitioners is to work regionally with our Adult Residential services to promote a good quality of life within our homes, as well as supporting adults with concerning behaviour in a holistic and supportive way.
Promoting Quality of Life
1. Ensure that the voice of the adult remains central to all input with individuals and their teams.
2. Inspire and support teams to reduce restrictive practices through the development of proactive strategies and positive quality of life outcomes.
3. Develop effective working relationships with colleagues, families, and external professionals to work in partnership to achieve the best possible outcomes for children, young people, and adults.
4. Support PBS Coaches and teams to creatively capture outcomes to contribute to organisational learning and influence sector practice.

2. Ensure that governance processes are adhered to in all support provided to PBS Coaches and teams.
Making Systems Work
1. Contribute to the PBS Coaches Network to support peer-to-peer learning and support across the organisation.
2. Facilitate any needed practice-related training for teams to support adults effectively.
3. Provide effective practice leadership to PBS Coaches and teams both proactively and to support during and beyond periods of change or challenge.
4. Provide effective support, mentoring, and guidance to PBS Coaches and teams to ensure strategies align with legislation, best practice guidance, Keys Connect, and relevant organisational policies.
Understanding Behaviour and Meeting Needs
1. Provide support, mentoring, and guidance to PBS coaches and teams across Keys Group regarding ongoing PBS practice, including supervision and support in completing Functional Behaviour Assessments and developing Positive Behaviour Support Plans when required.
2. Support colleagues, children, and adults in the provision of positive behaviour support plans, providing consultation to staff teams, verbal and written feedback where relevant, and liaising with internal specialist teams and external multi-agencies.
3. Support the development of reflective practice and analytical skills within teams and PBS coaches.
Essential Criteria:
1. Positive Behaviour Support qualification, such as CAPBS Coaches Award.
2. Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner or a similar PBS coaching role.
3. Proven experience of achieving improved quality of life outcomes and reductions in restrictive practices through coaching teams.
4. Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt styles to suit the audience and engage others.
5. Driving License and access to a car.
6. Ability to travel throughout the UK.
7. A willingness and ability to work flexibly, including some overnight stays as required.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Qualification in Health and Social Care Management.
2. Qualification in Education and Training.
3. Degree-level qualification in a health or social care field and/or significant relevant experience.
