Interim Commercial Contracts Solicitor – Legal Services

Pay Rate: £419.16 per day PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 6 months
City: Abingdon

NB: Police Vacancy - only for candidates with a minimum of 5 years continuous UK address history. Please note that this vacancy is subject to a strict security vetting procedure.
The successful candidate will be supporting a broad range of general commercial legal work from ICT, goods and services to construction, with the opportunity to work on high value and strategic projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Advising internal clients and liaising with other third parties in the giving of commercial advice and the drafting of commercial documents
Advising on the application of relevant procurement legislation.
Drafting commercial contracts and other commercial documents.
Providing advice on existing and proposed commercial arrangements.
Providing advice relating to the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and subsidy control.
Providing assistance to prepare for the Procurement Act 2023.
Commercial dispute resolution where necessary (pre-litigation).
Advising the council's Pension Fund on a range of contract and commercial matters, including discharge of functions and liability agreements relating to the pension administration and investment functions carried out by Local Pensions Partnership Ltd, along with associated transactional work.
Advising the Contracts team on a range of contract, commercial and procurement matters, including the procurement of hardware and software, specialist equipment, the use of third-party frameworks and assisting with identifying appropriate procurement strategies.

Qualifications:
An admitted solicitor/barrister.
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
5 years PQE in commercial contracts and estates matters.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
