Head of Projects / PMO
Position Overview
We are looking for a Head of Projects / PMO to lead our project management office and oversee the delivery of IT projects for our clients.
Job Description:
You will be responsible for managing a team of project managers, ensuring that they follow best practices and deliver high-quality results within budget and timeline. You will also be involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, risk management, and stakeholder communication. You will report to the COO and work closely with other senior leaders in the company.
Responsibilities
1. Define and implement project management methodologies, standards, and tools for the project management office (PMO)
2. Manage and mentor a team of project managers, providing guidance, feedback, and coaching
3. Oversee the portfolio of IT projects, ensuring that they align with the company’s vision, goals, and priorities
4. Monitor and report on the performance, progress, and status of the projects, identifying and resolving issues and risks
5. Ensure that the projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, meeting or exceeding the expectations of the clients and stakeholders
6. Establish and maintain effective communication and collaboration with clients, stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams, fostering excellent professional relationships and a feeling of trust to stand by our Core Values of “Doing the right thing”
7. Contribute to the business development and sales process, providing project estimates, proposals, and presentations
8. Continuously evaluate and improve the project management processes, practices, outcomes, and reporting
Requirements
1. Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, engineering, business, or related field
2. At least 5 years of experience in IT project management, preferably in a MSP or IT consultancy environment
3. Good, detailed understanding of IT technologies, cloud and on-premise infrastructure, IT software and support practices in place in a busy MSP
4. At least 3 years of experience in leading and managing a PMO or a team of project managers
5. Professional certification in project management, such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile
6. Professional certification in Cloud Technologies, such as Azure and 365 Fundamentals
7. Strong knowledge and skills in project management methodologies, tools, and techniques
8. Excellent leadership, management, communication, and interpersonal skills
9. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing and delegating tasks effectively
10. Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing requirements, and cope with ambiguity
11. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
12. Customer-oriented, results-driven, and quality-focused mindset, can-do attitude
13. Strong understanding of IT Cyber Security, audit, and compliance
14. Ability to translate technical speak into non-technical for understanding across all levels, holding demonstrations and facilitating brainstorming and whiteboarding accordingly
