Job Title: Health and Safety Manager Location: Greater Glasgow Salary: Competitive (pro-rata) Industry: Food Manufacturing Overview: An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager to join a well-established manufacturing business in the Greater Glasgow area. This role is part of the senior leadership team and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of health, safety, and environmental management on-site. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all HSE functions, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies. Develop and implement effective health and safety strategies to maintain a safe working environment. Conduct regular risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify and mitigate hazards. Promote and drive a strong health & safety culture across the site, engaging employees at all levels. Deliver training programmes on health, safety, and environmental procedures, ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements. Oversee occupational health and wellbeing initiatives, ensuring a proactive approach to employee welfare. Manage environmental policies and ensure the site adheres to best practices in sustainability and regulatory compliance. Investigate workplace incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Stay up to date with relevant legislation and industry standards, ensuring continuous improvement in HSE practices. Act as the primary contact for external bodies, regulatory agencies, and auditors regarding HSE matters. Candidate Requirements: Essential: NEBOSH qualification (Diploma preferred). Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong preference for food manufacturing. Excellent knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practices. Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage teams at all levels. Organised and proactive, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with senior management and operational teams.
