Learning Support Assistant – Autistic Spectrum Condition Base
Teaching Personnel are seeking a compassionate, dedicated and patient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for an Autism base within a mainstream secondary school in North Cardiff. The base provides tailored education and specialist support to 50 pupils with Autistic Spectrum Condition, with lessons being taught from the base and additional learning support to assist pupils in lessons within the mainstream classes of the school.

Contract: Full-Time
Start: April 2025
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be provided with complimentary yet compulsory (Level 2) online safeguarding training to complete throughout your registration process with Teaching Personnel. Trial shifts in this base will be arranged for you following successfully clearing mandatory vetting checks, including:
* Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service
* 24 months’ worth of employment/ study references
* Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
A Learning Support Assistant is required to accompany an assigned pupil(s) to lessons that they access outside of the base as well as support the ALNCo and their team of LSA’s in providing a comforting, calming and attentive learning environment.
Autism is a complex condition that affects pupils in different ways including: Sensory overload; coping with change; communication; empathy & social skills amongst others. Autism also exists on a spectrum, from mild signs of the condition where the person can cope with most situations to being non-verbal and not able to complete basic tasks without specialist support.
Teaching Personnel offer a range of opportunities for professional development and training, with occasional Level 2 Team Teach training being available and additional complimentary online courses via a learning portal that you would have access to at any time. These trainings are highly valued in schools and can improve career opportunities, especially in ALN bases.

* Dedication and willingness to support pupils with a range of needs
* Transferable social and communication skills from previous employment or hobbies
* An enhanced DBS check on the update service (guidance will be given)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
