Science Technician The Stockwood Park Academy have a great opportunity for an experienced Science Technician to join our innovative Science Department. We are seeking an organised and hardworking candidate who is a great team player and has a passion for Science. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing timely and effective technician support to all teachers in the Science department under the direction and support of the Head Science Technician. Previous experience in a laboratory and/or educational context is desirable. Science is a subject where you can really captivate students' attention with various exciting experiments and interactive lessons. We have fantastic facilities dedicated to Science with modern, fully equipped labs and we are looking to appoint someone who will ensure the provision of high quality and timely services to support the delivery of the science curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. If you want to support young learners in developing their skills, knowledge and passion in science, The Stockwood Park Academy would love to hear from you Key Duties Provide and prepare all equipment, chemicals and specimens for practical sessions and examinations. Advise and support teaching staff in the safe and proper use of equipment and contribute to demonstrations as required. Under the direction of the Senior Technician, carry out minor repairs to equipment. Contribute to the maintenance of the laboratories and equipment in a clean, safe and tidy condition at all times Further details of duties are listed in the attached Recruitment Booklet The successful candidate will Have some experience in the care and/or education of children. Experience preferred but training can be provided for right person if they do not have relevant experience. Be a great team player Have excellent communication skills Have a Science background (preferred) and GSCE Science qualification as a minimum. Have GSCE Maths and English qualifications. Be organised, efficient, and hard working with ability to prioritise their workload. Proactive, adaptable, and have a can-do attitude Job specifics Start date: Asap Salary: AS 6-8 £25,483-£26,292 FTE Actual pro rata salary £22,114-£22,816 Contract: Full time, permanent, term time inset days, 39 weeks per year, 37hrs per week, Monday – Thursday 8am to 4pm, Friday 8am to 3.30pm The Trust reserves the right to interview and appoint a suitable candidate before the deadline date.
