The Electoral Commission is seeking an Electoral Observer Officer to play a pivotal role in supporting elections across the UK. Electoral Observer Officer - The Role: In this exciting role, you will be the first point of contact for all matters related to the Electoral Observer scheme, offering advice, guidance, and raising awareness to ensure its effectiveness. The postholder will process applications from individuals and organisations to observe UK elections and relevant referendums. They will be the first point of contact on all matters relating to electoral observation internally and externally, providing advice and guidance and raising awareness of the scheme. Electoral Observer Officer – Key Responsibilities: - Act as the first point of contact for all queries regarding the Electoral Observer scheme, providing expert advice and guidance - Process applications from individuals and organisations seeking accreditation as electoral observers - Manage the production and distribution of accreditation badges - Maintain and update the Observer Scheme's digital resources, including managing content on the Electoral Commission’s website - Coordinate internal and external communications, providing training and guidance to observers - Collaborate with colleagues across the UK to ensure consistent and effective delivery of the Observer Scheme - Identify and deliver improvements to the scheme both as part of an initial review and on an ongoing basis Electoral Observer Officer – You: - Experience of using and maintaining information resources (databases, spreadsheets etc.) - Experience of writing and delivering guidance and/or training - Experience of editing and maintaining websites using content management systems - Experience of handling confidential and sensitive information - Experience of working with external stakeholders and/or suppliers - Advanced IT skills including the use of Excel and handling databases - Understanding of information security management issues and procedures - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Good time management and planning skills Working at the Electoral Commission The Electoral Commission offers excellent terms and conditions, you will benefit from: - Flexible working hours - Remote working - Opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements (dependent on scheme rules) Application Process: We want to attract the broadest range of talented people who are passionate about democracy.
