Environmental Services Facilities Technician
37 hours per week
Permanent
£30,697 - £31,334 / £15.91 - £16.24 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
We are looking to recruit an Environmental Services Facilities Technician to monitor the receipt, inspection, and validation of wastes brought to Council facilities for disposal or processing as outlined in the Service Plan and in accordance with Environmental Legislation, Health and Safety Legislation, and Council Policies.
You will undertake weighbridge operations, maintaining and updating records relating to manual and automated recording systems. You will ensure the monitoring and recording of the receipt, inspection, and validation of all waste types brought to the site is provided. You will be required to prepare records and submit those on a regular basis via computer systems.
You will deputise for the Environmental Services Facilities Supervisor as and when necessary.
You will also undertake operational duties as appropriate, being responsible individually or as part of a team for the operation of a waste disposal site, landfill site, or transfer station.
Minimum Requirements:
1. One year's experience in operating a Waste Disposal Site or equivalent operational experience is essential.
2. You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
