Job Overview
We are looking for a motivated senior physiotherapist to work as part of the Specialist Weight Management Service in Trafford. We seek an individual passionate about empowering clients to achieve their movement goals and change their lifestyle.
The service is a Tier 3 Specialist Weight Management MDT that includes nurse therapists, physiotherapists, and dietitians. The team delivers lifestyle programmes for those with a BMI over 40kg/m2, including group education sessions, a pathway for disordered eating, and bariatric surgery education. We are committed to providing a service that is compassionate and client-focused.
As part of the team, you will contribute to service development, staff training, evaluation, and audit. CPD is valued, and you will be supported to develop your skills and knowledge in this exciting specialism that is at the heart of key priorities for public health and the NHS.
Programmes are mainly clinic-based with some group delivery and home visits. Currently, face-to-face or virtual contacts are offered to clients.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Manage a caseload of patients referred to the physiotherapy pathway within the service and determine their requirements to increase daily activity based on treatment plans utilizing goals agreed with the patient.
2. Manage a caseload of clients who may be complex and have multiple needs, including medical, psychological, and social.
3. Assess client’s physical health in line with service protocols.
4. Undertake practice sensitive to the needs of clients, carers, and relatives from multi-cultural backgrounds.
5. Use facilitation skills to deliver a programme of group education sessions with clients.
6. Develop specialist programmes of care in lead area supported by Senior Practitioner and using current best practice, patient feedback, and innovation.
7. Carry out home visits when required.
8. Travel to a variety of community venues across Trafford, carrying equipment when needed.

Education/Qualification
* Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
* HCPC Registration
* Evidence of CPD in the field of rehabilitation
* Evidence of professional networking in a specialist weight management service
* Student accreditation/clinical educator training
* Further study in specialist area
Knowledge/Skill
* Specialist physiotherapy assessment skills
* Clinical reasoning skills to make a therapy diagnosis and formulate treatment plans
* Knowledge and ability to implement current best practice with activity or lifestyle change needs
* Good level of therapeutic handling skills with patients
* Excellent communication skills
* Demonstrate ability to manage time effectively
* Knowledge of issues relating to Clinical Governance awareness and understanding of local and national guidelines
* Ability to risk assess and ensure effective risk management in a community, clinic, or group setting
* Good level of IT skills
* Ability to work autonomously and within a team
* Self-reliant and self-motivated and be able to seek support and help when appropriate
* Reflect and critically appraise one’s own performance
* Coaching skills/motivational interviewing course completed
* Compassion course completed/knowledge of weight stigma
Experience
* Minimum 2 years experience working in a clinical setting
* Broad experience as a band 5/6 in core clinical areas
* Evidence of working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Evidence of working with people with multiple complex needs
* Evidence of specialist treatment applications
* Supervision of junior staff/students
* Clinical Audit and standard setting
* Evidence of developing a service
* Appropriate relevant post-graduate experience working in a community setting or a specialist weight management setting
* Experience of negotiating change and dealing with resistant clients
* Experience of facilitating group education sessions

* Current UK Valid Driving License and access to a car

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
