The role
As a Maintenance Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Hawk Maintenance Manager will control and manage personnel and resources on behalf of BAE Systems Air pertinent to all Flightline and Rectification activities in support of the Operational Flying requirement for the RAF.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Lead safety engagement, enhancement & accountability in line with the Safety Development Plan, Babcock customer and end user systems/processes within your AoR (Area Of Responsibility).
2. Demonstrate visible and transparent leadership to generate effective, consistent, and relevant two-way information flow, and improve employee experience in line with the Global People Survey action plan.
3. Ensure coherent maintenance planning/tasking and planning integration with customer led fleet planning, quantifying, and managing variation from agreed resource budgets and service scope within your AoR.
4. Manage workforce against agreed resource levels and role specific qualifications and experience requirements, within your AoR.
5. The overall Safety, Welfare and discipline of all assigned Prime and Sub-Contractor personnel in conjunction with the Management and Supervisory Team, equating to 130 engineering/support staff across multiple departments.
This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Valley.
Essential experience of the Maintenance Manager:
1. Previous Leadership experience and delegation of engineering authority and empowerment of personnel to carry out their duties effectively in order to meet the aims of the contract, whilst maintaining motivation of all assigned personnel.
2. Extensive experience in the maintenance and/or operation of Air systems and several years post qualification experience within a senior supervisory position within an operational environment.
3. Evidence in previous roles of Completion of all QA (Quality Assurance) and Higher technical reports. Ensuring adherence to the Safety, Health, Quality and Environmental program, and adherence to the Management System.
4. Previous Investigation of Safety incidents including follow up reports.
Qualifications for the Maintenance Manager:
1. Must be educated to HND/Degree level or recognised equivalent or have relevant experience supported by formal, recorded workplace applied related training.
2. Must have completed a recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship in industry/military or similar qualification in aircraft systems engineering.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
