Investment Assistant
Location: Bournemouth
What is the purpose of the role?
To help sustainably maintain and grow the client base through providing a high level of service to the clients and IFA/intermediaries we work with.
What are the main responsibilities?
Main tasks:
* Proactively develop familiarity with all aspects of client administration
* Proactively seek development of the team's processes to improve synergies and efficiencies
* Produce information for client meetings including meeting preparation
* Develop relationships with the team's client base and their IFAs/intermediaries
* Distribute and respond, as appropriate, to internal correspondence and e-mails
* Liaise with Investment Managers, other administration and Settlements areas as necessary
* Develop knowledge of, and comply with, all regulatory and organisational requirements / procedures
* Attend and support client meetings as necessary
* General assistance to Investment Managers, answering phones, taking and passing on messages for other team members
Role-specific tasks (all with supportive training, as appropriate):
* Undertake simple and complex trades, including bulk trades
* Maintain Investment Rationale spreadsheet for trades
* Significant contact in dealing with the establishment of client portfolios
* Pre-populate paperwork
* Reviewing paperwork and liaising with Settlements accordingly
* Ensuring accounts set up correctly
* Draft Commencement Letters
* Significant contact for working with our IFAs in non-investment related work
* Investment Request Forms
* Preparation of IFA Client Investment Recommendations
* Ensuring agreed adviser remuneration is efficiently managed
* Meeting preparation
* General contact with IFA support teams
* Answering general queries
* Proactively keep in touch (e.g. Quarterly AIM Factsheet)
* Attend client meetings, where appropriate
* Monitoring in and out going cash and stock transfers
* Assist with constructing CGT book cost histories for client holdings
* Maintain up-to-date investment administration and regulatory knowledge as appropriate
* Assist with regulatory projects
* Action and confirm payments to clients and relevant IFA
* Assist with answering IFA and Product Provider questions (e.g. valuation requests)
* Assist the team to maintain KYC information
What skills and knowledge are we seeking?
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with Investment Managers, clients and IFAs/intermediaries
* Exceptional focus on attention to detail
* Good numerical skills
* Highly IT literate with an ability to learn new systems
* Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Working knowledge of Fiscal and Pulse is desirable but not essential
* Excellent telephone manner
* Competent at working to deadlines and managing own time
* Flexible attitude to work in response to changing workloads and deadlines within the team
* Relevant investment administration experience desirable but not essential
* Investment Advice Diploma (IAD):
* The successful candidate will be encouraged to study towards the IAD qualification, if not already obtained, to be able to fulfil the role specific task of taking and placing deals
* Candidates applying without the IAD qualification will start as an Investment Administrator; progressing to Investment Assistant once the IAD qualification has been completed.
