Job summary The NHS Devon Governance Team is responsible for managing and ensuring that the ICB has in place, sound, integrated corporate governance arrangements, policies, procedures and structures for ensuring that the organisation complies with its legal, constitutional, regulatory and risk management requirements. We are looking for an experienced governance professional to undertake the role of Senior Governance & Assurance Specialist which will be key in implementing these governance arrangements through the provision of acomprehensive, high quality and efficient support and advice service; ensuring compliance and providing assurance as required; together with facilitating the operation of ICB's committee and other decision-making meetings. Main duties of the job The Senior Governance and Assurance Specialist will support the Director of Governance and Governance and Assurance Manager with all aspects of Corporate Governance: Risk Management; Board and Committee management; statutory documentation; internal audit; policy management; standards of business conduct; legal services and incidents. Main duties include: Supporting implementation of Standing Orders, Standing Financial Instructions, Terms of Reference and associated governance policies and procedures Identifying improvements required to meet regulatory standards or where investigation indicates gaps in current practice Managing arrangements to ensure corporate governance functions work effectively Undertaking qualitative and quantitative analysis from governance and assurance activities to identify trends, highlighting areas of good practice and concern Working with senior officers and key stakeholders to provide advice and guidance on governance policy and process and assurance issues Developing and maintaining understanding of the political environment and statutory and constitutional requirements of the role Keeping up to date with professional developments, legislative changes and best practice Ensuring teams and directorates are implementing governance policy and process as required Co-ordinating maintenance of the BAF and overseeing its interface with the Corporate Risk Register Managing Board Assurance Committees and other decision-making bodies About us NHS Devon Integrated Care System As an Integrated Care System (ICS), we recognise now more than ever that we can only provide the care that people really need by working together.
