Job Description Junior/Semi-Senior Accountant Location: Stockport Area (Office-Based) Salary: £24,000 - £30,000 (Depending on experience) Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent About the Role Are you an ambitious Accounts Assistant looking to step up in your career, or a Semi-Senior Accountant seeking a fresh challenge in a growing firm? This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established accountancy practice that supports a diverse client base across various industries. As a Junior/Semi-Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in managing client accounts, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards. You’ll gain hands-on experience with a variety of accounting software and have the opportunity to build strong client relationships while developing your expertise in a dynamic, professional environment. Key Duties Managing a portfolio of clients, providing support and advice. Preparing VAT returns and advising clients on VAT liabilities. Bookkeeping using software such as Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, and Sage, as well as Excel. Preparing statutory accounts for small to medium-sized limited companies, including corporation tax computations. Preparing unaudited accounts for sole traders and partnerships. Liaising with HMRC regarding client queries and submissions. About You We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive individual who thrives in a client-facing role. You should be confident working independently while also collaborating with the wider team. Key Skills & Experience: AAT qualified (or working towards qualification). Previous experience working in an accountancy practice is essential. Strong organisational and time management skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Confident communicator with the ability to build and maintain client relationships. Proficiency in MS Office and cloud-based accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
