We are now delighted to welcome applications for the role of Firmware Engineer, who will be excited by the challenge of developing both existing and new products.
The successful applicant will ensure that products are designed such that our products are market leading and meet the demands and expectations of PPT customers, the Brands and its values. The products should follow the Design Language Guidelines and must conform to the relevant EU Directives.
Responsibilities include :
* Produce reliable and effective firmware designs that integrate with existing and future company designs and systems for the purpose of data acquisition, data analysis, data transmission, motion control and user interfacing.
* Be proficient in C and C++
* Plan the development of firmware, being aware of others’ dependencies.
* Convert the design into executable code by a micro controller.
* Prove, by testing and debugging, that the firmware works as designed and is fit for purpose.
* Be aware of, and be able to recommend, best practice in terms of development, testing and debugging tools.
* Be aware of developments in microcontroller technology that could be used in products.
* Document the developed firmware by means of comments in code and graphical illustrations to show program and data flow.
* Conform to company version control and release practices and procedures.
* Suggest new and novel methods of firmware functions that could provide products with a commercial advantage.
* Be aware of existing legacy products for the purposes of understanding their operation and incorporating features and functions (where appropriate) into new products.
* Responsible for the development of efficient hardware solutions, from the initial concept, circuit design right through to test and production of new designs.
* Produce PCB designs, using the software, for new designs and design changes.
Employment & Educational Background
* The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a Firmware discipline, and will ideally have a manufacturing background
* A deep understanding of PID motor control with demonstratable examples of prior experience.
* Experience with firmware for gauges would be beneficial.
* Degree qualified or HND level of education in an electronic, science or math’s subject is required.
