This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi award winning team at a time when positive changes are being made which include a number of Grant funded facility improvements and a staffing reorganisation. The service is part of the Regeneration and Strategy Directorate of Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council. It holds regulatory franchise rights on behalf of the Council for the operation of market type events throughout the district and presently operates seven retail venues in various locations at Halifax, Hebden Bridge, Elland, Todmorden and Brighouse over a seven day week period.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to join our Market Service to undertake the role of Market Attendant who will be responsible for assisting the District Market Inspectors in the daily operation of the Councils Markets.
Responsibilities will include; Supervision of staff, monitoring and maintaining of standards, general cleansing duties, securing of premises and regulation of entry and trading, site supervision in accordance with Health and Safety requirements, minor maintenance and the erection and dismantling of market stalls.
The successful applicant will be required to liaise with Traders in relation to service provision and all related matters ensuring Calderdale’s Markets are maintained in a safe, secure and hygienic condition to the benefit of all stakeholders and in accordance with all legislative requirements.
Excellent customer service standards are required along with the understanding of who the key stakeholders are, ensuring that effective engagement takes place in delivering a first class service.
Health and Safety is also a service priority and you will be required to proactively encourage a positive health and safety working environment ensuring that staff and stakeholders work safely at all times.
The post holder will need:
• Demonstrable experience of working within a customer focused role.
• General knowledge relating to cleaning processes and the use of industrial cleaning equipment.
• Ability to learn – to undertake training to facilitate safe operations and methods of work and any other forms of training that may be appropriate.
• Effective people skills – must be able to support and effectively work with others to achieve common goals and objectives.
• A Full driving licence
This is an exciting time to join this award winning Team; the successful person will be expected to work alternate Saturday and Sunday and from time to time Bank Holiday Mondays, along with covering other Market Attendant positions at other markets, so flexibility is essential.
