Design Engineer
Salary: Competitive salary dependant on experience
Location: East Yorkshire (Roughly 30% Worldwide travel required throughout the year) Reports To: Technical Manager
Job Summary
The Design Engineer II is responsible for leveraging engineering expertise across multiple projects, focusing primarily on equipment design, fabrication drawings, and process engineering. This includes providing project and startup support, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and standards, as well as contributing to sales support.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead equipment and process design from concept to startup on multiple projects, ensuring timelines, cost efficiency, and accurate specifications for purchased components.
* Generate and verify equipment fabrication drawings and calculations, maintaining thorough documentation for compliance with standards.
* Perform engineering calculations and analyses related to process design, as well as equipment sizing and selection.
* Provide technical support to clients and work closely with Sales, R&D, and Aftermarket teams.
* Review and apply code requirements for pressure vessel designs.
* Act as a project manager when required, overseeing roles and responsibilities to meet project milestones.
* Collaborate with internal and external customers to develop effective design solutions that align with project goals.
* Mentor and support Level I Engineers with guidance and training.
* Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
* Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
* 3–6+ years of relevant engineering experience.
* Proficiency in:
* Project scheduling, tracking, and reporting
* Creating Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
* Designing pressure vessels and other equipment
* Strong relationship-building skills to work effectively with team members, clients, and vendors.
* Ability to read and interpret technical and commercial contracts.
* Fluent in English, with additional language skills in European or Asian languages preferred.
* Excellent communication skills for conveying technical information clearly in both spoken and written formats.
* Competency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, ACAD, ASME, COMPRESS, and PED preferred.
* Ability to manage multiple projects independently, with strong organisational skills and the initiative to prioritise tasks.
* Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of the time, including visits to industrial sites.
Working Conditions
* Office Work: Approximately 85% of time spent in an office environment with standard office conditions.
* Site Visits: Around 15% of time spent at customer or fabricator sites, which may include exposure to chemicals, hazardous materials, and noise, as well as potential work at heights, in confined spaces, or in adverse weather conditions
