Job Description Reporting to the Fleet Operations & Workshop Manager, the post holder will supervise and manage the Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection allocated shift, co-ordinate the activities and functions of the shift to ensure the delivery of a consistent, high quality, best value and customer focussed service. A key part of this position is focusing on fleet customer services detailed within the Service Level Agreements and building a sound working relationship with our fleet customers. The post holder is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Fleet Operations’ workshop shift. A key part of the position is the requirement to provide a quality, cost effective fleet maintenance service that meets the needs of our customer and conforms to the Council’s Operators’ Licence requirements. The post holder will manage and co-ordinate the Councils Taxi inspection and evaluation service, including private MOT Testing The post holder will be required to carry out maintenance & repair operations alongside supervisory & coordination roles where time permits. Undertake continuous training & development in new & emerging low carbon vehicle technologies such as electric and hydrogen powertrains. Requirements Ensure that high quality customer focused services are delivered in an effective manner in accordance with Moray Council policy and Best Value principles. Contribute to the development of an effective fleet service by implementing objectives and targets, key results and outcomes and to measure and monitor progress. To ensure specific performance indicator targets are achieved. Supervise vehicle maintenance and repair in compliance with the Councils Goods Vehicle Operators Licence Undertakings. Supervise and co-ordinate the Councils Taxi Inspection and evaluation service including DVSA MOT Testing. Day to day cost control of the Vehicle Maintenance Service. Manage/operate in accordance with agreed Health & Safety protocols and within the wider context of the Council’s Health and Safety Policy and other relevant statutory and legislative requirements, for example Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. Maintain an awareness of changes in legislation, regulation and good practice which impacts on the delivery of Fleet Services functions. Conduct Fleet asset inspections, preventative maintenance and servicing in accordance with Moray Council and Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) policies and procedures. Supervise the completion of Vehicle and plant statutory documents in compliance with the Councils Goods Vehicle Operators Licence Undertakings. The Individual Extensive background in large diverse vehicle & plant maintenance workshop with supervisory management experience. A proven track record of managing change. Holder of a full category C driving licence. Supervisory Management qualification or equivalent. Time Served Vehicle Technician. DVSA MOT Testing experience. At least 4 standard grades including Maths & English. Hybrid & EV Level EV2. 2 and EV3 training. Must be able to demonstrate that they can clearly communicate instructions to those required to take instruction. Proven track record of vehicle diagnostics and fault recognition. Ability to organise effective workforce deployment Health & Safety awareness Ability to operate ICT systems You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van. To have sound judgement and work under own initiative.
