Job Title: Project Accountant
We are seeking a Project Accountant to join our global Finance department. In this role, you will support the business by ensuring accurate project cost collection and driving margin improvements through reporting and analysis of project costs. You will manage a portfolio of project accounts and apply revenue recognition methodologies across the group.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Act as a business partner and provide operational support to project managers, advising on best practices and accounting principles.
2. Drive margin improvements through reporting and analysis of project costs; suggest and implement changes as needed.
3. Prepare and maintain accurate monthly project accounts for a portfolio of O&M and Delivery projects within deadlines.
4. Challenge cost forecasts and collaborate with project managers on risk registers, savings, and opportunities.
5. Ensure compliance with all project accounting and regulatory policies, including revenue and cost recognition and government accounting standards.
6. Deliver timely and accurate monthly reconciliation of WIP and POA to the ERP system.
7. Manage KPI reporting for Programme Leads according to schedule.
8. Promote continuous improvement and efficiency in reporting and tools through education and communication with project teams.
9. Support sales and bid teams in preparing bid cost models and tender processes, ensuring adherence to internal controls and approvals.
10. Approve purchase orders in line with Delegation of Authority.
11. Drive continuous improvement within your areas of responsibility.
12. Perform other ad hoc responsibilities as required.
13. Adhere to Nomad Values, Health and Safety guidelines, and ethical practices.
Qualification Requirements:
* Professional qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) or equivalent.
* Degree preferred.
* Knowledge of finance, accounting, and budgeting principles.
Experience Requirements:
* Experience with long-term contract accounting is an advantage.
* Experience in competitive tendering is an advantage.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
* Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
* Experience with process automation is an advantage.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to provide accurate, timely information.
* Robust, with the ability to challenge appropriately.
* Ability to work under pressure and think proactively in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to analyze large data volumes and communicate findings clearly to auditors and management.
* Effective planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
* Proactive, diplomatic, and committed to high-quality work.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including engagement with senior stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
