Commercial Manager, Landscape Construction Salary £55,000 to £65,000 Bonus & Package Site, Office (Chelmsford) & Home Based Permanent The success of this “Super specialist Landscaping Contractor means that they need a Quantity Surveyor to take control of all construction costs, from the award of a project to its handover. You will have responsibility for the financial management and contractual commitments of all projects, and work closely with colleagues to ensure that they are completed on budget, on time and to specification. This role is central to the organisation and is pivotal to both its ongoing success and the creation of the company’s award-winning Landscapes. This is the ideal position for a Landscaping QS, Estimator or Senior Contracts Manager looking to take the step into senior management The Job: Reporting to the Managing Director, you will use your professional and proactive approach to maintain an overview of all of the company’s Landscaping projects. You will ensure the financial integrity of all projects from Estimating and Tender through Procurement and Construction to completion and, importantly the agreement of the financial account. Together with the senior management team you will determine the companies purchasing and sub-contract policies and be central to the negotiation of terms. You will be responsible for the contractual commitments inherent in each project and aware of the Scope of Works and Specifications. Review all tenders in respect to financial management and contractual risk. Liaise with the Client in respect to variations, ensure these are communicated and recorded. Control supplier selection and sub-contract packages. Liaise with Clients, as necessary to assist the tender progression and award. Attend pre and post contract meetings with clients as required. Be aware of project scheduling and review progress. Maintain a progress file for each project to evidence and support any contract disputes. Report on the CVR, Financial and Contract commitments of each project. Ensure that all costs are correctly allocated to facilitate monthly payment applications. Identify project problems and quickly instigate solutions to mitigate costs and risk. Identify disruptions to projects from external sources and agree contract variation terms with the Client. Liaise closely with the client and “Manage the Client Journey” at all times. Manage the works completion statement, ensure that the final account is fully supported and produce a final report on the project performance The Person: You will currently be working in a landscaping or construction company as a Project Surveyor, QS or Senior Contracts Manager and you will: Have experience delivering construction contracts. Have a knowledge of Construction Contracts, Variations and agreements together with an understanding of project risk management. Have experience in preparing, submitting and progressing sub-contract tenders. Be an effective Team Leader with demonstrable Commercial management experience. Have strong interpersonal and communication skills Be financially literate with experience of managing margins in line with budgets Have an understanding of the practical, technical, financial and qualitative requirements of a sub-contract project An exciting opportunity to work for a well-established company that offers excellent career progression opportunities
