As a Broadcast Wireperson, you will be responsible for providing the expertise to install equipment and cabling infrastructures for a variety of projects within our Broadcast Estate. Projects will range over the whole of Sky’s Broadcast infrastructure from Content Production, through Post-Production and Transmission, to the various linear and non-linear delivery platforms. The team works on-site in Osterley 5 days a week, from 7-3:30pm.
What you'll do
1. Preparing, terminating, and numbering various types of broadcast, network, multicore, and various other cabling for installation in Equipment Room racks, Studios, control rooms, and technical office areas.
2. Installing broadcast equipment and Power units with associated cabling into Equipment Racks, and neatly securing all cabling to Sky Broadcast standards.
3. Running cabling under equipment room flooring within and between the different floors of Sky technical buildings at times working within congested cable routes and confined access.
4. Installing both copper and fibre infrastructure cabling installations.
5. Work closely under the direction of Project Engineers to deliver installations accurately, and within expected timescales driven by the projects.
6. Work within technical environments and benchwork in the wiring workshop for projects and support installations.
7. Decommissioning and modifications to racks and technical areas.
What you'll bring
1. Extensive experience and knowledge in terminating various types of broadcast connectors for crimp terminations, in-rack power cabling, and soldering multipin connectors.
2. Experience of broadcast and technical equipment room working environments working with video, audio, network cabling and fibre.
3. Able to interpret technical cabling drawings of the various systems and implement the connection of the cabling to equipment with an eye for detail and neat and tidy installations.
4. Excellent application of experience to fault finding within cabling and installed racks.
5. Desirable experience and certification in MEWP operation, working at heights, confined working environments, CSCS, and fibre termination.
