Head of Supply Chain

About Our Client
Our client is the world’s leading manufacturer of wood panel boards. They pride themselves on delivering “Wood Perfected” and have invested in innovation since 1897. With £300m spent on their Chirk manufacturing facility recently, and a further £200m planned in the coming years.
They are currently seeking a dynamic Senior Manager to lead their Supply Chain, overseeing the Logistics, Production Planning, and Customer Service teams.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As the Head of Supply Chain, you will be responsible for developing and executing their end-to-end supply chain strategy. This includes production planning, distribution, and logistics, with a focus on operational efficiency, cost management, and customer satisfaction. You will lead a high-performing team, foster strong partnerships, and ensure the supply chain is agile, scalable, and prepared for future challenges. The role involves delivering excellence on time across the UK and Ireland.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Coordinating Production Planning, Customer Service, and Logistics teams while managing budgets.
* Establishing KPIs aligned with business objectives to measure performance.
* Training, developing, and evaluating team members to support high performance.
* Collaborating with other departments to optimize costs and operational performance.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and hauliers.
* Managing distribution operations from Chirk, including negotiations with hauliers for national coverage and high service levels.
* Contracting with hauliers and defining service expectations.
* Ensuring efficient warehousing with minimal damages.
* Maintaining a First-In, First-Out stock rotation system.
* Meeting service level expectations to uphold customer satisfaction.
Requirements
* Proficiency in Windows software applications and data reporting systems.
* Understanding of Logistical IT packages.
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional apprenticeship.
* At least 5 years of senior management experience in Logistics or Supply Chain.
* Hands-on experience with supply chain management software such as SAP and in-house solutions like K-Soft.
* Knowledge of Paragon software.
