Role Profile: As an Electrical Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in determining the costs and scope of various electrical installations. Working within a busy and expanding team, you will be responsible for producing competitive tenders, estimates, and quotations for electrical projects across both industrial and commercial sectors. You will work closely with clients, suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure that each project is estimated accurately, profitably, and in line with company standards. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in electrical estimating, preferably within the M&E or construction industry, and possess excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. You will also be instrumental in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance the accuracy of cost estimations. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and submit competitive tenders, estimates, and quotations for electrical installations on various projects. Calculate the amount, type, and cost of materials, fixtures, and equipment required for each electrical project. Determine the labour resources required to complete each project within the estimated time frame. Conduct take-offs from tender documents to ensure comprehensive project costing. Evaluate the potential profitability of electrical projects to guide management in making informed bidding decisions. Complete and submit project bids in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to established guidelines. Use specialized tender software to generate cost estimations and manage the bidding process. Liaise effectively with clients, architects, consultants, contractors, and suppliers to clarify project requirements and scope. Work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, ensuring tenders are submitted accurately and on time. React to changes in project requirements and develop value engineering solutions as needed. Facilitate the smooth handover of successful tenders to the site team, ensuring all relevant information is communicated. Continuously review and improve cost-estimating procedures to minimize discrepancies between estimated and actual project costs. Qualifications, Experience, and Skills: A qualification in engineering, electrical installation, or an equivalent relevant field. A-levels or equivalent in literacy, numeracy, and technology. Proven experience in estimating electrical projects, with a focus on O&M contracts and private networks. Experience in preparing tenders and quotes, particularly in the electrical or construction industry. Ability to establish strategic partnerships and manage relationships with external stakeholders. Demonstrable experience handling complex and sensitive commercial information, ensuring confidentiality. Track record of delivering successful tenders within deadlines and to budget. Strong project management experience with a focus on process improvement and cost management. Ability to work autonomously and proactively, demonstrating initiative and goal-oriented drive. Comfortable working under pressure, managing multiple projects simultaneously. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and basic computing tasks, with experience using estimating software desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to build relationships with internal teams, clients, and suppliers.
