Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who will be responsible for managing a team of QSs who are responsible for ensuring that value for money is achieved alongside contractual compliance on a portfolio of projects. You could have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects ranging in value from £25k to £200M during your career at Thames Water.
What you’ll be doing as a Senior Quantity Surveyor
* Providing Commercial Assurance of Capital Delivery Contracts.
* Providing Contractual advice and support to Capital Delivery Team.
* Management and development of Team Members including their progression towards chartership.
* Accountable for ensuring that the Team carry out the following:
* Challenging, negotiating and agreeing on Project Tenders.
* Ensuring that payments are made on time and in accordance with the Contract.
* Assessing the Quantum of Change and/or Extension of Time in line with the Contract.
* Auditing and agreeing on Project Accounts.
* Ensuring that appropriate processes are in place and monitored for your Delivery Area to ensure that Contractual Compliance is maintained and advising stakeholders if any non-performance is identified and corrective actions implemented as necessary.
* Advising and supporting the management and optimisation of budgets and spending on the portfolio of Projects.
* Attending Site Meetings.
* Supporting the Principal & Managing Quantity Surveyor with the resolution of Claims as necessary.

What you should bring to the role
* Extensive experience in commercially managing a portfolio of projects both pre and post contract.
* Recent experience of managing a QS Team.
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
* Strong Communication and Stakeholder Management skills.
* Confidence in negotiation and applied dispute resolution skills.
* Knowledge of water regulation (incl. OFWAT Price Review methodology).
* Knowledge of Risks associated with the delivery of projects and contracts.
* Self-starter, resilient and tenacious under pressure.
* Full UK Driving license and own transport.
* Good team player, enjoys working as part of a busy team.
