The Role
Reporting to the Head Chef, our Kitchen Hand will primarily be responsible for cleaning and dishwashing activities to ensure the effective and efficient operations of the kitchen as well as adhere to the maintenance of safe and hygienic operations within the kitchen. In line with our flexible working arrangements, we are open to part time and full time applicants for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
* Use cleaning chemicals and recommended products for specified cleaning duties.
* Clean all areas within the kitchen in conjunction with the Cooks to ensure effective health and safety standards are achieved.
* Provide a clean, hygienic environment for the preparation and delivery of meals.
* Empty kitchen bins and cardboard boxes throughout the day.
* Collect accumulated food waste and dispose of it appropriately according to SMCT guidelines, procedures, and policies.
* Ensure that malfunctioning equipment is reported to the Head Chef or the manager-on-duty in a timely manner.
* As directed by the Head Chef, follow all relevant SMCT guidelines, procedures, and policies in regards to food preparation and adhere to the daily menu plans.
* Promote a safe and secure working environment for all SMCT employees and visitors.
About You
* We are looking for someone with:
* The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure.
* Confidence and strong capabilities working within a hospitality or café environment.
* Knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulations within a hospitality and/or café environment.
* The ability to work in a physically demanding role.
* The ability to work successfully and productively within a team environment and independently.
* High level of organisational, time management, and problem solving capabilities.
* High level of presentation and strong work ethic.
* High level of lifting and manual handling.
