About Motorway
Motorway is the UK’s fastest-growing used car marketplace – our award-winning, online-only platform connects private car sellers with thousands of verified dealers nationwide, ensuring everyone gets the best deal. Founded in 2017, our technology-led approach has redefined the experience of selling a car, generating thousands of monthly car sales and helping us to grow to a team of more than 400 people across our London and Brighton offices.
About the Role
The Commercial Marketing Strategy Manager will be responsible for identifying new opportunities to drive growth among Motorway’s customers (B2C and B2B). This role will work with Marketing Stakeholders and cross-functional teams, including Finance, Data Analytics, Product, and Sales. You will dive deep into business trends, manage marketing reporting, inform investment decisions, evaluate marketing and growth opportunities, drive strategic projects from start to finish, and work with the marketing organisation to build scalable plans for sustained growth in our fast-growing business.
This is a unique opportunity to join an exceptional team in a fast-paced and rewarding environment that is transforming the used-car market.
What You’ll Do:
* Monitor and report marketing business performance against key metrics, identifying trends and insights to inform recommendations and guide future decision-making across the marketing organisation.
* Think holistically about drivers of over/underperformance and how to respond to them, providing strategic input to the Finance team's quarterly and annual budgets.
* Perform and understand analysis using data from internal systems and external research to draw conclusions that are communicated visually and/or in digestible formats.
* Collaborate with relevant marketing and cross-functional stakeholders to inform testing roadmaps and craft measurement plans.
* Conduct post-mortems on key marketing activations to inform future plans, such as channel mix, investment levels, and audience targeting changes.
* Become an expert on customer behaviour and insights at a market level to inform future marketing activity and strategies for growth.
* Partner with cross-functional teams to build measurement and evaluation frameworks that align with company and marketing objectives.
* Manage cross-functional strategic initiatives and special projects for marketing leadership as needed.
* Partner with Finance and Data Analytics to inform investment strategy and budget allocation.
* Investigate opportunities to implement growth strategies and assess any implications of the growth trajectory.
* Develop executive-level materials (written and visual) for weekly trading and management meetings.
Requirements
* Experience in marketing strategy or commercial planning, preferably in tech or e-commerce (ideally marketplace).
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable interacting with senior leadership to deliver results and recommendations that impact commercial decision-making.
* Strong analytical skills and comfort with solving ambiguous problems.
* Strong understanding of the Marketing function and its core competencies to drive full-funnel initiatives.
* Experience interacting with vendors, suppliers and third-parties to drive value and insights to inform marketing plans and initiatives.
* Ability to work well independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
* Highly methodological and creative problem-solving approach with the ability to understand both art and science.
* Self-starter with a track record of taking ownership of initiatives with limited oversight.
* Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
* You are positive and committed, with a 'can-do' attitude and a flexible approach.
* Advanced proficiency in Excel.
* Dashboard and/ or SQL experience.
