Pay Rate: £15.78 per hour (PAYE) / £19.77 per hour (Umbrella)
About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced and empathetic Housing Options Officer to join our team in Hertford. In this key position, you’ll provide high-quality housing advice and support to customers, working in line with current legislation and council policies. This role is ideal for an organised, proactive professional passionate about homelessness prevention and committed to delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver expert housing advice and assistance to customers, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and local policies.
2. Collaborate with partners to support the council’s prevention and relief duties, providing timely, accurate advice and engaging in negotiation and mediation to prevent homelessness.
3. Help clients with Housing Register applications, Rent Deposit Scheme requests, referrals, and Medical Assessment forms, and respond to general housing-related enquiries.
4. Assist caseworkers by offering support to individuals seeking housing assistance.
5. Act as a first point of contact, providing initial housing advice and coordinating homeless appointments for Housing Options Officers.
6. Regularly review and update applicants' personalised housing plans (PHP), working closely with them to help secure suitable alternative accommodation.
7. Carry out any other reasonable duties to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of housing services.
Applicant Requirements:
1. Proven experience in providing housing advice or working in a housing-related role.
2. Strong understanding of current housing legislation and local authority policies.
3. Excellent communication, negotiation, and mediation skills.
4. Ability to manage a varied and fast-paced workload effectively.
5. A compassionate and professional approach to supporting individuals in challenging situations.
