Housing Options Officer (Rough Sleepers) Location: Muriel Matters House, Hastings Career Grade: 8-6 - £26,409 to £36,124 per annum (subject to performance progression). Permanent – 37 hours per week We are inviting applications for the role of Housing Options Officer (Rough Sleepers). This is a fantastic opportunity to make an impact within the community, providing targeted advice and assistance to rough sleepers and individuals at risk of homelessness. Key Responsibilities: Offer housing advice and support to rough sleepers, in line with council policies and housing legislation. Conduct outreach in the community and work closely with partner organisations to ensure services are accessible. Carry out triage assessments and develop tailored support plans for clients, addressing physical and mental health, social care, and substance misuse issues. Collaborate with local initiatives, including the Rough Sleeping Initiative and Rapid Rehousing Pathway, to deliver comprehensive support. Maintain detailed case records and provide regular updates to ensure clients receive appropriate housing solutions. Undertake homelessness applications and related assessments to determine eligibility for assistance. Build long-term relationships with housing providers to prevent homelessness and secure alternative housing options. Actively contribute to team meetings, service improvements, and share specialist knowledge to support the team’s development. Requirements: Essential Experience: Proven experience in a housing-related support role, delivering advice and assistance. Experience working within a multi-agency environment. Essential Knowledge: Strong understanding of the causes of homelessness and the housing needs of individuals with complex issues. Knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy law, and the link between homelessness and health outcomes. Skills: Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to compile clear and comprehensive reports. Proficiency in IT and Microsoft Office applications.
