If you are a HSE Lead, this is an ideal opportunity to join a rapidly expanding Rail company based in Staffordshire. They are currently seeking a HSE Lead on a permanent basis as the company continues to expand and grow within the industry.
As a HSE Lead, you will be on a salary of up to £45,000 per annum, working day shift Monday to Friday, as well as a performance-based annual bonus.
The role is critical in delivering timely and effective health, safety, and environmental support and advice across the business. You will take a hands-on approach to ensuring the company operates a “safety first” culture, leading on training and coaching, overseeing the reporting and investigation of incidents, and embedding a continuous improvement approach to our HSE culture and performance. The successful candidate will have a real opportunity to lead on the areas of responsibility, shaping and influencing the company's processes and performance.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide expert advice and support to staff at all levels of the business.
2. Interpret relevant legislation, codes of practice, guidance, etc., and relay these in an appropriate manner to relevant staff. Ensure that all policies and practices are regularly reviewed and updated as required.
3. Support operational teams with the production of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
4. Ensure all accidents are documented, investigated, and recommended improvements are implemented.
5. Undertake occupational exposure monitoring, assisting external providers as required. Provide advice on risk management and health surveillance.
6. Assist with the development and undertaking of HSE Audits and Assessment Plans.
7. Proactively identify key areas of non-compliance and improvement and act alongside site management for improvement.
8. Develop and deliver HSE training and identify suitable external providers as required.
9. Take the lead on coordinating and facilitating safety committee meetings.
10. Accurate production and reporting of metrics.
11. Deputise for QHSE Manager as and when required.
Competencies Required:
1. Minimum level 3 Health & Safety qualification, e.g., NEBOSH National Certificate.
2. Minimum TechIOSH, preferred CertIOSH or equivalent.
3. Full UK driving licence.
4. Knowledgeable of requirements for working within a rail safety-critical environment.
5. Demonstrable experience developing, communicating, and embedding policies, systems, and procedures.
6. Experience training and coaching others, both in groups and 1-2-1, to develop knowledge and improve performance.
7. Able to cultivate productive relationships across the organisation.
8. Strong communicator.
