1. Management of the Portering, Drivers and Security services across the Trust. 2. Co-ordinate the waste handling collections and management of the collections and disposal. 3. Provide a customer focussed service assisting with patient moves and transfers. 4. Responsible for the in-house patient/staff transport service. 5. Manage the Trust Vehicles, servicing, MOTs and documentation. 6. Establish a recharge process for office, furniture and department moves and the disposal of confidential waste. 7. To control out of hours access by contractors and visitors, ensuring appropriate authorisation is in place and security is maintained. 8. To ensure that the hospital is made secure, by the locking of all appropriate doors and windows during the silent hours and to ensure these doors are unlocked as required, in accordance with the established procedure. 9. Responsible for the assistance of both members of the public and staff against violence and aggression incidents that occur on the hospital premises, and to liaise with the Police and ensure that all incidents are documented. 10. Shall be responsible for providing a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors. 11. Responsibility for assisting in the development of policy and operational matters related to the management of security within the Trust, in a professional manner to ensure real, permanent improvements are achieved. 12. To ensure that appropriate steps are taken to create a pro-security culture and a safe and therapeutic environment within the Trust, in order that staff and patients accept responsibility for these issues and ensure that where security incident/breaches occur, they are detected and reported and adequate preventative action taken to minimise risk of reoccurrence where possible. 13. Ensure security incidents are reported in a simple and concise manner allowing for investigations to take place when appropriate, risks to be assessed and to allow the development of preventive measures. 14. To take an active part in the multidisciplinary team and incident de-briefs for risk assessment purposes and to ensure that weaknesses can be fed into policy revision and all possible preventive action taken to minimise risk. 15. To undertake physical security audits, prepare risk assessments and review action plans to minimise the risk of incidents and potential breaches of security across a range of healthcare premises. 16. To effectively identify and describe the most appropriate technical, cost effective and physical solutions for security management services. 17. To assume the responsibility for the administration and record keeping of the Facilities and Security systems and to liaise closely with the technical staff. 18. Continuingly update by means of professional development efficient means for the delivery. 19. To prepare reports and presentations and other documentation using word processing, data processing and presentation software as required by the Head of Facilities. 20. To observe the appropriate confidentiality of all documentation flowing through the office. 21. To recruit, motivate, train, develop and retain appropriate staff enabling staff to have the skills, expertise and discretion to function effectively in their role. 22. To ensure that all staff have appraisals and personal development plans are in place. 23. To undertake ad hoc projects in support of the Head of Facilities
