Job Title: Temporary Accommodation Housing Officer Location: Camden, North London (Hybrid / On-Site as Required) Contract Type: Full-Time, Ongoing Hours: 36 hours per week Hourly Rate: £21.90 per hour Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Temporary Accommodation Housing Officer to support the management of a growing and diverse property portfolio. This includes council-owned units, leased properties, hostels, and nightly paid accommodation both within and outside the borough. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, responsive housing management service to households placed in temporary accommodation, ensuring properties are well-maintained, compliant with health and safety standards, and conducive to tenancy sustainment. Key Responsibilities Deliver a proactive and supportive housing management service to households residing in temporary accommodation. Conduct regular property inspections to ensure all units are safe, well-maintained, and meet Health & Housing Safety Rating Standards (HHSRS). Work closely with landlords, property providers, and contractors to build strong relationships and ensure timely resolution of repair issues. Support residents in applying for Housing Benefit, setting up rent accounts, and ensuring rent is collected efficiently. Monitor rent accounts, follow up on arrears, and take appropriate action where necessary. Manage tenancy-related issues including breaches of licence or tenancy conditions, complaints, and safeguarding concerns. Promote tenancy sustainment by identifying support needs and signposting to relevant internal and external support services. Maintain accurate records of all interactions, property visits, and tenancy actions using housing management systems. Assist in the procurement and onboarding of new temporary accommodation units as needed. Work collaboratively with internal departments such as Homelessness Prevention, Repairs, Legal, and Finance teams. Key Requirements Experience in housing management, particularly within temporary accommodation or homelessness services. Strong understanding of housing legislation, safeguarding, and tenancy/licence enforcement. Knowledge of Housing Benefit processes and rent collection procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset. Ability to work independently, manage a busy caseload, and resolve complex issues.
