We require an enthusiastic Dental Nurse to join our team in the Maxillo Facial and Orthodontic Out Patients Department.
A flexible approach is essential for this role. Experience of working in a hospital is an advantage but is not essential, as full training will be given.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide chairside support to the Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontist clinicians and other clinical staff working in the speciality.
2. Responsible for day to day management of the surgeries.
3. Responsible for accurate patient record keeping.
4. Working alongside medical staff in the minor surgical procedures performed within the clinical department.
5. Training and supporting new staff.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Hold one of the following certificates: NEBDN National certificate in Dental Nursing S/NVQ Level 3 in Oral Healthcare: Dental Nursing or Dental Hospital Certificate of proficiency in Dental Nursing. Or have the equivalent experience and eligible for the registration with the Dental Care Professionals register.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Certificates in: Conscious Sedation, Oral Health Education, Radiography, Orthodontic Nursing, Implants.
Experience
* Proven clinical practice in dental nursing skills and infection control practices.
* Experience of mentoring and teaching junior staff.
* Experience of co-ordinating clinic in the absence of senior colleagues.
* Proven clinical practice in Implantology, Oral health education and Oral Surgery.
Knowledge
* Dental Nursing code of conduct and guidelines of professional practice.
* Good theoretical and practical knowledge of Dental Nursing within the clinical area. (Orthodontics and Maxillo Facial)
* Health and Safety awareness.
* Quality issues and Clinical Governance.
* Awareness of risk management procedure.
Skills
* Proven verbal and written communication skills.
* Identify problems and recommend solutions.
* Time management, ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload.
* Motivated to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
