Job summary
An exciting Band 8a opportunity has arisen to lead the People Policy and Compliance Team. The role of People Policy and Compliance Lead will require you to work closely with the Assistant Director of People Policy and Compliance, to support them to ensure that provision of robust governance arrangements are in place to provide high levels of assurance, in respect of all legal and statutory requirements, relevant technical guidance, terms and conditions of service and employment related policies. In this role you will lead and manage the People Policy and Compliance Team, which includes the job evaluation function, and be responsible for their performance and delivery against key performance indicators.
You will be a Chartered Member of the CIPD, with relevant specialised knowledge in one or more HR subject areas, with experience of managing and developing HR staff. You will be a team player, working with colleagues across the People Directorate, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and to deliver under pressure, to meet deadlines. You will also be committed to providing quality services with a focus on continuous improvement.
Main duties of the job
1. You will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of progressive employment policies and socialisation processes, in partnership with our trade union colleagues, to ensure the Health Board is responsive to change and provides a positive employee experience, as well as complying with our statutory and legal responsibilities.
2. Supports the Assistant Director of People Policy and Compliance in providing internal assurance within the People Directorate, the Board and to sub-committees of the Board by ensure there are robust employment policies and governance processes and procedures in place, to keep the Health Board safe and mitigation risks to reputational damage, by ensuring a positive people experience and a healthy employment relations climate.
3. Manages the overall performance and direction of the People Policy and Compliance and Job Evaluation Facilitator Team.
4. Advises on very complex employment policy, governance and employment issues, freedom of information, IR35 and people audit and risk matters, as well as for providing expert employment law, policy and term and conditions of service advice and guidance to ensure the Health Board meets its legislative and regulatory governance and compliance requirements, as they relate to people policy, practice and terms and conditions of service etc.
