Ace Education Manchester is an alternative provision and mentoring service in Manchester City Centre. Operating across our two sites behind Manchester Deansgate, we are approved providers of alternative provision to the local authorities of Manchester, Trafford, Salford, Bury, Stockport, Rochdale and Tameside.
We are looking to add to our growing team of dedicated staff and to appoint a HLTA to support students with their learning in our provision and in the community.
The ideal candidate would have a passion for working with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and students with SEN or SEMH needs.
Hours: 8.30 - 14.30. Monday to Friday. (Part-time positions may be available)
Roles and responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging learning activities to individuals, small groups, or whole classes, in line with the national curriculum and school policies.
- Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and adapting support strategies as needed.
- Supervise classes during the short-term absence of teachers, ensuring continuity of learning and maintaining a positive classroom environment.
- Support pupils with diverse needs, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), to promote inclusion and achievement.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop resources, interventions, and strategies that enhance pupil outcomes.
- Promote positive behavior in line with school policies, fostering a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Assist in the organization of extracurricular activities, school events, or trips as required.
- Undertake administrative tasks such as preparing materials, maintaining records, and liaising with parents or carers when appropriate.
The ideal candidate would have:
* A full UK drivers’ licence with business insurance (must have)
* HLTA status or equivalent qualification (e.g., Level 4 Teaching Assistant qualification) is desirable.
* Have a passion for supporting pupils with complex needs
* The ability to communicate effectively, foster strong relationships and de-escalate challenging behaviour
* Have a strong understanding of safeguarding practices and procedures
This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
