Description Overview: The Head of Risk is a pivotal member of the Risk and Compliance team, reporting to the Director, Risk & Compliance at MUFG Corporate Markets, A division of MUFG Pension & Market Services and with the responsibility for overseeing the development, implementation and continuous improvement of our risk management framework, playing a crucial role in embedding ERM policies, with a focus on the Three Lines of Defence (3LoD) model. The highly skilled and experience role holder will lead a team of Risk professionals, providing independent, commercial assessments of risks and assisting the business to ensure adequate and effective controls are implemented, in addition to leading the risk agenda for the MUFG Corporate Markets business unit, which works across a number of jurisdictions and businesses, including Registry, Capital Markets, Investor Relations and Share Plans for both listed and unlisted corporates. The role is based on a hybrid basis from our stunning new Lime Street office in London, so you will need to be within a commutable distance to ensure you can be in the office with the team each week. You’ll really need: • Demonstrable experience within the financial services industry in Europe, with a deep understanding and working knowledge of the regulatory framework • A progressive mindset, which can clearly support the development of the Risk Function, including experience in the deployment of leading risk practices • In depth knowledge and experience of best practice risk management, methodologies and emerging practice in financial services, including in relation to operational resilience • Knowledge and experience of cyber security would be advantageous • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders at all levels • The ability to inspire confidence, influence and motivate others, whilst leading, coaching and developing a high performing team • Resilience, courage, determination, with the drive and desire to succeed • A strategic mindset, with excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a demonstrable ability to negotiate and influence at all levels whilst building effective relationships It would be nice to have: • Good working knowledge of key legislation relevant to the share registry and share plans business in the UK and Europe • A Business, Commerce or qualification in a related field, combined with ongoing professional development Day to Day, your role will include, but not be limited to: • Implementing and enhancing risk management frameworks tailored to the specific needs of our areas of operation • Staying abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes to continuously evolve the risk framework in line with best practice • Developing comprehensive risk policies and procedures that comply with regulatory requirements and align with the broader Group/Enterprise Risk Management policies • Monitoring and ensuring adherence to established risk policies, identifying and addressing any deviations promptly • Leading the integration of the 3LoD model to strengthen risk governance across the organisation • Collaborating with the Group Enterprise Risk Management team on policy enhancements and initiatives • Establishing and maintaining effective communication channels to report key risk metrics and insights to senior management and relevant stakeholders • Providing regular updates on emerging risks, mitigation strategies and overall risk profile • Leading and inspiring a small, high-performing Risk team to foster a collaborative and innovative culture • Working closely with other senior risk colleagues operating in other jurisdictions and acting as key Risk stakeholder for the EMEA leadership team
