Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic, experienced lab focused individual to lead our Laboratory Support Team, working in a challenging and diverse role where no two days are the same. This would be a great role for an individual who is looking to move into a supervisory role but with retaining a technical aspect, to develop their career.
The position is responsible for managing the range of services across LIS and TLS divisions at our client site. The role will include, but is not limited to:
* People management of full team (LIS & TLS) ensuring resilience within team for absences/holidays
* Maintaining HPLC & GC systems from routine preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and performance qualifications checks
* Mentoring/training/developing team in areas of responsibilities, completing performance reviews and ensuring development of team.
* Maintaining and developing the GSK client relationship
* Ensuring all core tasks completed daily and in adherence to schedule and SLA requirements
* Ensuring that Planned & Reactive Maintenance is completed within the specified time-frames and in accordance with the specified KPI requirements
* Ensuring documentation and records are kept up-to-date and in compliance with site requirements
* Identifying and promoting benefits/innovations of team
* Attending governance meetings and reporting on Lab Support services
* Applying mitigation to support sites CPI, KPI, PI adherence if necessary.
* Sub-contractor management ensuring safe practices on site and supporting contract renewal process.
* Responsible for ensuring team work areas maintain high standards of housekeeping and meet requirements such as 5S.
We are looking for individuals with:
* Educated to degree level in a Science subject (preferably Chemistry)
* 3+ years demonstrable experience of working within a laboratory environment and familiarity with GxP procedures
* People management experience (preferable but not essential)
* Technical knowledge in HPLC & GC including troubleshooting and maintenance experience essential.
* Experience in planning and scheduling using a CMMS such as SAP, MERPs preferable
* Experience in use of Empower preferable
* Confidence and communication skills to challenge behaviours and drive continuous improvement.
* Can perform under pressure and independent of supervision
* Customer focussed and works well as a team
* Strong organisational skills and able to priortise tasks appropriately
Key Accountabilities
* Management and control of the activities of the team to ensure the services are delivered to the agreed specification and performance standards and aligned to KPIs
* Ensuring resilience within team to support all tasks in event of absences/holidays
* Accountable for adopting the ALCOA+ (attributable, legible, contemporaneous, original & accurate) principles.
* Responsible for ensuring all maintenance carried out within the scheduling window, be it self-delivery or management of subcontractors and in accordance with SLA & KPI requirements
* Maintenance of the Asset list to ensure it is up-to-date at all times
* Ensuring yourself and the team maintains 100% in MyLearning & Learning hub
* Drive a strong EHS culture
