Housing Options Officer (temp: Maidenhead, Berkshire) (JN -042025-422848) Maidenhead, England
An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Housing Options and Advice Officer to join one of Adecco Public Sector's Local Authority clients in a temporary contract, initially for 3-4 months (but highly likely to be extended).
Our client is based in Maidenhead in Berkshire, and this is a full-time role for 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Office attendance is required one day each week, as you will be involved in phone duty for the week. You will handle homeless approaches on the day you attend the office and will manage a caseload from initial approach to making main duty decisions. The successful candidate will also be expected to complete s184 decisions.
Due to the busy nature of the role, the client prefers applicants with previous experience in:
1. Interviewing clients and resolving housing problems.
2. Processing homeless applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
3. Providing advice and preventing homelessness by guiding clients approaching the Council as homeless.
4. Assessing eligibility for private sector options under the Housing Act, Part VII, as amended.
5. Adhering to the Homelessness Code of Guidance and the Council's Homelessness Prevention and resilience agenda.
6. Having a sound knowledge of Housing and Homelessness Law and experience in resolving complex housing issues.
7. Possessing administrative skills to manage caseloads and work effectively within a team of 6-8 officers.
8. Dealing with demanding service users and partners, with strong IT and administrative skills.
9. Updating Personal Housing Plans (PHPs).
Previous experience of similar roles within a local authority in the last two years and strong knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act are highly desirable. A driver’s license is not required.
Applicants should be willing to work in our client's office one day a week and be able to start within two weeks.
Please include your full name, email with country code, and a CV/Resume in your application. Confirm whether you are eligible to work in the country you are applying to (work permit/visa/citizenship).
