Main duties of the job

Due to the nature of this role and service, this role is on-site and the hours are as advertised.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Ensure a high standard of care for level 1 and level 2 post operative patients and safe transfer to critical care unit/other area.
2. Health and physical abilities sufficient for the post (If necessary, with reasonable adjustments with respect to the Equality Act/Disability Discrimination Act).
3. Work with Medical staff and multi-disciplinary team to ensure patient safety and treatment are carried out as per Trust policies.
4. Able to communicate effectively, in person and written, in all situations with wide range of people, Full use of IT systems.
5. Able to work unsupervised using own initiative and ability to prioritise workload in a challenging situation.
6. Maintain accurate records of observation, treatment and patient care.
7. Get involved with the Education team, support junior staff and get engaged with link roles in the unit.
8. Able to demonstrate behaviours that meet the Trust Values - Patient First, Working Together and Always Improving.
9. Qualified Nurse/ODP Adult or Dual registered Adult/Child.
10. Recovery/critical care unit experience is desirable but not essential.
11. Flexible to work patterns, which includes short shifts, early, lates, twilights, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
12. Willingness to learn and adapt to changing environment.
13. Positive attitude and team player.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
* Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
* Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register
* Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service
* Understanding of personal accountability
* Knowledge of own role within the team
* Provide evidence of teaching and supporting learners in practice in the role of practice supervisor
* Awareness of evidence-based practice
* Awareness of responsibilities for management of infection control
* Evidence of on-going personal development
* Able to use initiative
* Evidence of recent study
* Previous experience/qualification in relevant specialty
* Teaching experience
