Job summary The candidate must be able to demonstrate advanced clinical expertise in the care of patients receiving emergency or clinically urgent treatment in the Emergency Department. Continuous assessment of patients and aiding towards the 4-hour target and 15-minute ambulance offload. As a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse you will be required to be responsible over a 24-hr period ensuring the departments safety while supporting the junior team in ensuring the needs of our patients are met through the delivery of high-quality care. The role involves working as part of a large multidisciplinary team including the ED medical team, clinical practice educators, safeguarding, mental health liaison team and clinical specialties. The Senior Sister/Charge Nurse works clinically including unsocial hours and is required to work competently in all areas of the Emergency Department as well as being able to independently take charge of them. The post holder must demonstrate a willingness to promote teamwork and delivery of safe effective clinical practice. Main duties of the job The Queen Elizabeth Emergency Department is looking for an innovative and enthusiastic Band 7 Emergency Department Nurse. The post holder will be responsible for the supervision of nursing and support staff on a shift basis, as well as being in charge of the department, ensuring quality and safety, high standards of patients care and ensuring patient flow throughout the department. You will also lead a team of nurses and take responsibility for quality and safety initiatives in ED. The post holder should be able to demonstrate as a clinical expert and have overall continuing responsibility for the delivery of high-quality patient care in the department, demonstrating clinical leadership while on duty.
