Would you like to make a huge difference to dog welfare in Dundee and the surrounding area? Are you experienced in handling and rehoming dogs?
We’re looking for a Fostering Coordinator to coordinate the Dogs Trust Fostering Scheme in the Dundee and surrounding areas of Angus, Perthshire, and Fife. This will include promoting the scheme, recruiting and inducting volunteer foster carers in the locality, assessing handovers of dogs in need of relinquishment, ongoing dog assessments, and promoting dogs for adoption.
About this job:
* Promote the Home-from-Home scheme to recruit volunteers in the Dundee and surrounding area.
* Interview and select suitable volunteers, performing home visits to check on the suitability of the environment.
* Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that volunteering standards are adhered to.
* Identify from handover calls, dogs suitable for HFH. Carry out dog assessments for placements for foster.
* Deliver the highest level of customer service, discussing Find A Dog applications and matching and rehoming dogs effectively, including translating dogs foster reports to customers and introducing dogs to potential adopters confidently and safely. This may include occasional visits to potential adopters’ homes to ensure it is appropriate for a particular dog.
About you:
Working on your own initiative, you will have experience of handling dogs and matching them to potential adopters. Able to screen and assess dogs for health issues, aggression, and behavior problems, you'll be a confident communicator experienced in working with volunteers. You will also be equipped to deal with sensitive and challenging situations in an appropriate manner, ensuring the best outcome for our dogs and volunteers.

About the team:
As an extension of the rehoming centre team, the Home from Home scheme provides care in the homes of volunteers for dogs. This role will set up and run a satellite Home-from-home scheme in the Dundee and surrounding area to expand the opportunities for dog fostering in the area and enable Dogs Trust to rehome more dogs in the location.
What you need to know:
Please note that this is a home-based opportunity with frequent visits to our Rehoming Centre in West Calder. The successful candidate must live within approximately one hour of Dundee to be considered for this role. A full, manual driving licence is essential for this role.
