Pupil Support Worker Advanced (British Sign Language experience desirable)
29.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

There is an exciting opportunity to join our team at Pinewood School as a permanent Advanced Pupil Support Worker. To support us in meeting the needs within our school, it is highly desirable that applicants have British Sign Language Level 3 or above. For the right candidate trained at level 1 or with lived BSL experience, we would support their professional learning to develop skills to BSL Level 3 or above.
The post will initially be based within our Secondary Department and requires a commitment of 29.5 hours per week across 39 weeks per year (term-time).

Our School Context
Pinewood School is a special school based in the village of Blackburn that provides children and young people with severe and complex additional learning needs an opportunity to access high-quality learning and teaching. The curriculum is designed and adapted to meet the diverse needs of individual learners.
Our vision as a school community is to provide relevant, supportive, and challenging learning experiences, where learners are given opportunities to develop a positive attitude towards lifelong learning and promote more independent living.
The school has both a primary and a secondary department. We currently have 19 classes, with 12 in Primary and 7 in Secondary.
We have a school roll comprised of 144 pupils, a Head Teacher, a Depute Head Teacher, 3 Principal Teachers, and 30 members of teaching staff, along with a team of 74 pupil support workers.
This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
