My Client is recruiting for an Electrical Engineer in the Water Sector.
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the responsibilities include:
1. Reviewing, digesting and technical translation of customer specific requirements from contract documentation.
2. Providing technical assistance, detailing equipment selections, and production of design deliverables to support a variety of Water Technologies products and systems.
3. Providing technical assistance with standard products & proposals departments.
4. Being significantly involved in the enquiry and execution phase of the project as well as providing support during the commissioning stages.
5. Engineering coordination with other disciplines internally and also with external sub vendors and clients within the UK and globally.
6. Working with the current Electrical Lead and, within the next 12 to 18 months, taking over the Principal Electrical Engineer role and assisting the Engineering Manager to lead and run the electrical department.
Role Delivery:
1. Evaluating and reviewing client specifications, current Industry Standards, and National Regulations to ensure compliant Water Treatment designs, producing technical clarifications and deviations relevant to Water Treatment standard product designs.
2. Assisting in the development of contract scope of supply technical details during proposals documentation development.
3. Reviewing Electrical data sheets and constructing electrical equipment specifications for procurement such as Transformer Rectifiers, Control Panels, and MCC's.
4. Conducting technical appraisal of supplier proposals and designs.
5. Preparing electrical and plant program design supported by calculations and references.
6. Preparing package control documentation such as Control Philosophies, Cause and Effect Charts, and Logic Diagrams.
7. Assisting in the preparation and review of proposal scope documents, producing technical recommendation reports, and engaging with clients and sub-contractors during pre-contract and post-contract discussions.
8. Producing Process Control Philosophies against Functional Design Specifications ensuring relevant design information is coordinated to all disciplines.
9. Assisting in resolving design issues during manufacture, installation, commissioning, and operation of Water Treatment products and systems.
10. Liaising with customers regarding legacy design issues.
11. Complying with, supporting, and developing the Company Quality Assurance System - BS EN:ISO 9001:2008.
12. Developing and Debugging PLC/HMI programs.
13. Attending and supporting project FAT's in the Test area on the shop floor, requiring client-facing support for the duration of the FAT.
14. Occasionally attending vendor sites to witness Electrical Equipment testing.
15. Assessing department workload in conjunction with the Engineering Manager and managing workload priorities for the mechanical engineering design team.
16. Assisting the electrical design team in implementing company quality Q.A Procedures regarding Engineering Design Document Control Procedures and maintaining the document control system.
17. Eliminating hazards and mitigating risks in all Water Treatment product and system design work as per the Hazardous Area Equipment Regulations and Low Voltage Directive.
18. Maintaining an up-to-date awareness and knowledge of various water treatment processes, plant and equipment types, and associated suppliers that may influence the design of Water Treatment products or systems.
Experience and Qualifications:
1. Degree/HNC/ONC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or similar.
2. Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions presented in diagrammatic form and deal with technically factual information.
3. Water Sector or similar process-related Industry experience.
4. Ideally experience in running a team of Engineers.
5. PLC programming - Desirable.
6. Experience in Electrochlorination packages - Desirable.
7. Knowledge and experience of ATEX, IEC Ex, HAZOP - Desirable.
8. A good understanding of manufacturing and production methods and processes.
9. Experience of major Petrochem engineering specifications - Desirable.
