Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Level 3 qualified Teaching Assistant to support students aged between 3 and 18 with a range of special educational needs in a specialist school based in Newark.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students with local and national learning strategies, such as literacy and numeracy, as directed by the teacher.
- Prepare and maintain classroom resources and equipment as directed, and assist students in using them effective.
- Supervise students during non-lesson times, including before and after school and during lunch breaks.
- Attend to students' personal needs and implement related programs, including support with social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare, using specialist equipment when necessary.
- Provide support to students with emotional, social, and behavioral challenges.
- Offer practical assistance for students' identified physical needs.
- Supervise and support students to ensure their safety and full participation in learning activities.
- Establish supportive relationships with students and their parents, fostering positive communication.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the school community.
Requirements:
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Previous experience working with children, especially those with special educational needs.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive attitude towards supporting students.
- A solid understanding of child development and the various types of special educational needs.
- Knowledge of moving and handling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be adaptable and responsive to the varying needs of the school.
- Embed the school's overall ethos into daily working practices.
