We are looking for a CNC Machinist for a contract based in Derby on behalf of our globally respected client who develops cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs. The role is a 12-month contract with the possibility of going permanent after that.
Job Description - The Role
You will operate in a busy, world-class engineering and manufacturing environment and be responsible for delivering against weekly targets to meet customer requirements. Your role as a Machinist would be machining discs and drums using multiple machining platforms to conform to standards, which could include roughing, intermediate, or finishing operations.
You will work with manufacturing programming engineers to implement continuous improvements within the machining programmes. The on-time delivery of components with right-first-time quality is a key objective within the machining team, playing a pivotal part in delivering this goal and our commitments to customers on time.
As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for:
1. Working to Client's Technical Instructions to deliver consistent, high-quality inspection across a variety of different components and product families.
2. Operating a variety of measuring equipment, including micrometres, plug gauges, and surface finish equipment.
3. The interpretation of manufacturing drawings, customer drawings, and written specifications, and understanding programmes.
4. The assessment of whether the quality of components produced within the facility meets the required standards.
5. Working within a team to ensure we hit our customer commitments.
What We Require from the Candidate:
1. NVQ Level 3 or time-served engineering apprenticeship, with previous experience relevant to the role is essential.
2. Clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, technical instruction, and asset care.
3. Pro-active and patient individuals capable of managing their time effectively.
4. Confidence to work alone or as part of a team, striving to achieve delivery commitments.
5. Willingness to partake in champion roles.
