An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a teaching assistant to join a dedicated and experienced team of staff at Abersychan School.
This post would be ideal for someone who is perhaps a graduate and/or wishing to train in the future as a teacher. It would also suit somebody with experience of working with young children or simply somebody with the passion and enthusiasm to enrich the lives of our learners.
The hourly rate is £12.38 to £13.24
For this role you should have:
• strong spoken and written English plus good command of mathematical skills;
• good organisational skills, flexibility and ability to use your own initiative;
• effective communication skills and be a team player;
• the ability to develop positive and caring relationships with children;
• a desire to work as part of a forward looking and knowledgeable teaching team.

Qualifications / Experience:
Essential
1. Excellent numeracy/literacy skills – equivalent to NVQ Level 2 in English and Maths.
2. Meet Teaching Assistant standards or equivalent qualification (NVQ 3) or experience.
3. Experience working with children to relevant age. (notably secondary school age).
4. The ability to work constructively and flexibly as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these.
Desirable
5. Effective use of ICT to support learning
6. Effective use of other equipment technology to support learning
7. An understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation. A basic understanding of child development and learning.
