Job Title: Assistant Headteacher (English)
Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Management of the English Department:
* Monitor, evaluate, and continually improve the quality of planning, teaching, and assessment within the department.
* Participate in or lead quality assurance processes to enhance staff performance.
* Efficiently manage the departmental budget and resources.
* Lead behaviour management, ensuring strong routines for learning.
* Foster strong partnerships with parents and carers.
* Contribute to the school’s self-evaluation process.
* Collaborate with colleagues as a committed team member.
2. Curriculum and Assessment:
* Develop a rigorous and inspirational, knowledge-rich curriculum.
* Pursue evidence-based approaches to curriculum design.
* Ensure curriculum maps clearly outline intent and implementation.
* Plan GCSE and exam courses in line with specifications.
* Accountable for student progress across all key stages.
* Use data to identify underperformance and implement effective interventions.
