About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support in their learning journey. You will assist in developing individualised learning plans, implementing sensory strategies, and promoting a nurturing and structured environment. This role requires patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting the diverse needs of students.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with Autism.
2. Implement and adapt learning strategies to meet individual needs.
3. Support students with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
4. Assist in managing challenging behaviours using positive reinforcement techniques.
5. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure holistic development.
6. Foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
About You:
1. Experience working with children with Autism, preferably in an educational setting.
2. A compassionate and resilient approach to supporting students with SEN.
3. Knowledge of autism-friendly teaching strategies and communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, visual supports).
4. Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students and colleagues.
5. A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEND qualification) is desirable but not essential.
